
Beer & Mushrooms
Today I decided to expand one of my
enoki mushroom cultures. For the culture I needed beer, water and agar. I usually use a local micro brewed beer. Today I used Millers. I guess my brother's taste in beer has gotten less
discriminating or he is on to me and hide the good stuff.
The first thing that I do is mix up 125 ml of beer, 375 ml of water and 4 teaspoons of agar. I then pressure cook it for 20 minutes at 15 psi. After the pressure has dropped I remove the media and pour it into the sterilized culture dishes.
After the cultures have cooled I transfer a section of the old culture into the new culture.
